Status after first project period (per 28 January 2011)

After the first project period (12 months) has come to an end, the EcoWaterHeater consortium is well on its way to solve the technological challenges in the project and build an innovative Domestic Electric Storage Water Heater (DESWH).

The development of the smart control system is nearly finished. A first prototype was made to test principle functions. Design documents and assembly specification for the prototype, which will be integrated in the complete EcoWaterHeater, are finalized. Even with good insulation of the DESWH, there is a potential to reduce heat losses with a smart control system. In addition, the smart control system makes it possible to benefit from electricity tariff systems and protect the system from Legionella bacteria.

The concept evaluation and development of the advanced insulation solution and the DESWH design will be finalized soon.

OSO was represented and had an exhibition stand at the Scandinavian HVAC Exhibition which took place from the 20th – 22nd of October 2010 in Oslo. The EcoWaterHeater project was presented by a poster on the OSO stand.
